When you're just too lazy to go inside...

God, I "love" the concept of walk-up windows... They are like drive thrus... For your feet. For the record, they have one of these in Copenhagen (on Stroeget, next to Illum), so I know this isn't just a lazy American thing. Damnit though, seriously, you are eating Burger King, you could probably use the extra .000001 calorie burn walking inside would give you. It adds up, people.

I know. Why would a high crime city like DC want to have the ability to stay open past dark without risking robbery or the safety of their staff? That's bizarre.

First of all, Anonymous, good point (and actually something I hadn't though of), but next time you come commenting on my blog with your fighting words, grow some balls and get a name.

Second, this walk up window is by the Verizon Center, not in, like, Anacostia or even Petworth.

Third, the drive up window is open the exact same hours as the regular restaurant. If someone wanted to rob the place or in some other way threaten the safety of staff, they could go inside and do it. On that note, it's not like the walk up window has bars on it. You could saunter up with a gun and a threat and it wouldn't be much different than someone doing the same thing inside the restaurant.

The fourth, final, key point, is that I also mentioned that they have one of these in Copenhagen -- one of the safest cities in the world -- and was using that comparison to be snarky about something I thought was funny in the two seconds it took me to walk by and take a picture.

I do appreciate comments and, I'll admit, yours made me pause and think, but seriously, why stay anonymous? I think that's what bothers me most.

Man. I happened across this and I snickered in my cubicle and thought, "amazing!" I came to comment and now "Anonymous" has got me rationalizing. -_-

So, I ask, was it in a location where people walk a lot? It just made me think of the boardwalk at the beach by my house, where they have restaurants with walk-up windows, not because people are lazy, but for the convenience of grabbing while walking...?

I'm not sure if that entirely justifies it, but that's what it made me think.

Teeheee, nonetheless. :)

Lorraine.
